Alex Brunson
Alex Brunson

Alex Brunson goes by his last name, so you can call him brunson. He brings a love for storytelling and a passion for authentic connection to his work within Culture & Communications. As a singer-songwriter and poet, brunson infuses his creative instinct in all of his work in shaping the voice and culture of Percapita.

brunson’s commitment to building more equitable and inclusive organizations inspires those around him to be their full selves, and challenges notions of what’s possible for people, teams, and companies.

Before joining Percapita, brunson was at Morgan Stanley where he advised entrepreneurs, managed and mentored many, and co-founded a cohort responsible for curating and cultivating culturally diverse and intentionally inclusive spaces at the firm. Engaging with and creating a positive impact in communities of color is foundational to brunson's work and art.

“I’m excited for us to continue to challenge the status quo. Seeing and doing things differently has always been the way I approach life, so it feels incredible to get to build a company committed to doing things differently on behalf of communities that deserve better.”
Alex Ehrlich's bio photo
Alex Ehrlich
Alex Ehrlich
Alex was raised in Long Beach NY by loving parents and an older sister who is still smarter than him. Uninspired by academics, but motivated by arts, causes and the need to pay bills, Alex worked part-time at Goldman Sachs before dropping out of college to spend the next 40 years having fun and making friends on Wall Street.

Alex built and led prime brokerage businesses throughout his career. He co-founded Goldman Sachs’ Prime Brokerage business in the early 1990s, and headed or co-headed that business in Europe and Asia, until he departed from that firm after 24 years. He went on to lead Prime Brokerage at UBS in London and New York for six years, after which he co-headed Prime Brokerage for a decade at Morgan Stanley, where he also oversaw the Listed Derivatives and Fund Administration businesses, served on the Equities and Securities Operating Committees, and chaired the Diversity Council of the Investment Bank. He left Wall Street with gratitude for his many mentors and friends, and recognition of how privileged he was to have had such opportunities.

During his years in London, Alex met the woman of his dreams on a blind date, and pursued her to Paris three days later. They’ve been married 30+ years, and have raised three sweet young men, all of whom are making the world a better place. They really want grandchildren.

“Talent is equally distributed, but opportunity is not. I founded Percapita with the aim of creating an equitable financial services firm that can play a role in addressing America’s unsustainable income inequality. Percapita is the product of lessons learned in banks, restaurant kitchens, basketball courts, shelters, and every place where people work to build better lives for their families.”
Aliah Greene's bio photo
Aliah Greene
Aliah Greene
As a child, whenever told she had three wishes, Aliah's third wish was always for three more wishes. It was a way to continuously expand the realm of the possible in a framework designed to limit. Through a 20+ year career in finance, Aliah has been guided by three rules to do the same in her work. The first: Questions carry more power than answers. The second, which she learned from her son: Practice makes progress. The third is from the great Arthur Ashe: “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”

As Percapita’s Chief Operating Officer, Aliah brings her experience working across risk management, treasury, and financial control at Morgan Stanley, most recently as a Managing Director and Head of Enterprise Risk and Analytics for the Wealth Management division and the Private Bank. More than that, Aliah brings the insights and passion gained from living the problem at the heart of Percapita’s work—and a commitment to all the communities still grappling with its challenges.

"Despite the substantial challenges my family has faced, I’ve been fortunate enough to be given access, opportunities, and systems of support that allowed years of hard work to eventually lead to financial health for us. Being part of Percapita gives me a chance, first, to help others now trying to overcome those same challenges and, hopefully, eventually, to help remove them entirely."

Anna Kaminski
Anna Kaminski

When Anna was a teenager she could not wait to get out of her hometown of Madison, Wisconsin to move to a bigger city. She spent four years in Boston, three years in the DC area, two years in Chicago, and one year traveling around Mexico before moving back to her hometown. She has now fully embraced that she is a Wisconsinite, even buying a house within one mile of her childhood home!

For the past decade Anna has been on a personal mission to build a more equitable financial industry. About ten years ago she found herself living paycheck to paycheck and stressed out about her finances. Rather than giving up, she enrolled in a financial coaching training that changed her life. After finding her way to financial wellness, she now wants to spread what she has learned to help others and to break down barriers that people in lower socioeconomic classes encounter when they interact with the financial industry. As Vice President, Financial Wellness, Anna is putting her skills and energy into building the financial wellness offering for Percapita.

Anna is passionate about economic and racial justice, bilingual in English and Spanish, and has over a decade of service experience in the nonprofit world and five years of customer success experience building financial products at an innovation lab. Anna also serves on nonprofit boards, tutors middle and high schoolers, and advocates for foster children and their bio parents.

Carlos Scogliera's bio photo
Carlos Scogliera
Carlos Scogliera

Carlos joins Percapita having worked over half of his life in sales, technical support,  teaching abroad, customer experience and financial services. He grew up in a community where cash was the only way to pay. If you didn't have it, then you saved up for it. Financial management or building credit weren't concepts that were broadly discussed or understood. Carlos is excited that Percapita wants to change that by building bridges through better communication and understanding of financial options available in communities like his.

When not providing excellent customer service, Carlos is at his best when he is exploring - whether on a woody trail in the Pacific Northwest, a sun-drenched beach in Brazil or on a busy buzzing street in Hanoi.

Chris was born and raised in Buffalo, NY and ever since he was a kid, he always wanted to know and build the story behind everything - the Who, What, When, Where, How and Why. This is where his passion and interest in Compliance all began. Along with that, Chris brings his fun loving sense of humor to his role as a Compliance Analyst at Percapita.

Before Percapita, Chris worked in the finance industry for 13 years, with over nine years in compliance at a variety of financial institutions. He wants to open doors, break down barriers, and give opportunities to community members who may not have had those experiences before with their financial needs. To him, the chance to be a part of building Percapita from the early stages is something special.

Chris is married with two kids, and has a love for soccer and football. In his spare time, you can find him watching his favorite professional sports teams or coaching high school soccer.

Dan Kreis's bio photo
Dan Kreis
Dan Kreis

A wily veteran of the consumer banking industry, Dan has amassed a lot of “war stories” from his decades in the metaphorical trenches. He has followed many bold financial innovations in that time; some went down in flames while others achieved game-changing success. It’s the latter goal that brings him to Percapita.

Before he joined, Dan had been a consultant for 26 years, including stints at First Annapolis Consulting and Accenture, working with more than 100 institutions in 17 countries, often as the interim credit portfolio manager. Dan started his career as an analyst for an innovative institution that led the development of affinity cards, co-branded credit cards, process automation and A/B market testing.
While he is thrilled by new technologies, Dan’s greatest satisfaction comes from guiding the development of people. He remains close to many of his former staff and takes pride in their achievements.

“Percapita is my final act in finance, and I am determined to forge new technologies that blend automation and experience into a lending platform that can level the playing field, enabling people to meet their goals and doing no harm to the vulnerable.”

As Vice President, Customer Service at Percapita, David is extremely passionate about creating frictionless, technology-driven customer service with low effort self-servicing capabilities. He has a passion for uplifting people and helping them unlock their inner potential. Percapita's mission resonates with David because growing up in a low-income Latino family, he realized how inaccessible banking and financial literacy can be. It wasn’t until he started to learn about banking and financial planning that he was able to stop living paycheck to paycheck and start feeling like he could climb the ladder to success. David is excited to help similar communities do the same.

In his spare time, David enjoys cooking, PC gaming and travel.

But I believe that the combination of team expertise and passion to make people's lives better will bring us and our community members ultimate success!"

An avid library-lover and political Econ nerd, Lulu is passionate about learning, (listening to & connecting with) people, equitable & just systems, and hyping up 11 year olds with impromptu Zumba classes. She brings that enthusiasm and care, as well as cross-disciplinary research skills, to her role in understanding the communities Percapita intends to serve.

Before joining Percapita, Lulu graduated Reed College Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in Economics, where she wrote a thesis on the rise of wealth inequality in the U.S. since the 1970s. While an undergraduate, she worked as a research assistant in Macroeconomics and contemporary feminist political theory, at an NYC-based policy think tank, and in the office of senate majority leader Chuck Schumer. She also maintained her commitment to working with kids, volunteering to provide extracurricular engagement to students in local under-resourced schools, and acting as a Youth Development Coordinator at a YMCA camp.

“A large body of research shows that in the current, highly unequal state of the US, a child’s future income, education, and psychological wellbeing is effectively determined by kindergarten. This is because when there is extreme socioeconomic inequality, the connection between one’s future advantage and the resources one grew up with––including their access to financial services––becomes even stronger. I joined Percapita because we believe that access to affordable, transparent financial resources/tools that fit your needs should be universal, and that the future you want to build towards should be determined by you—not anything else."

As Percapita's Director of Analytics and Platform Execution, Maria has found an opportunity to marry her love of mathematics and all things quantitative with her desire to deliver positive impact to communities in need. She was also heavily involved in diversity and inclusion initiatives, including the firm’s Multicultural Professional Development Program.

“I’m excited to serve a segment of the population that is often neglected or mis-served by traditional financial institutions. As a Wall Street alum, I’ve witnessed firsthand the aggressive competition to best serve the 1% - I’m animated by the prospect of shifting focus to the 99%.”

Maripat Alpuche
Maripat Alpuche
As a self-described “behind the scenes” lawyer, Maripat has worked on some of the largest and most complex financial deals of the past 30 years, but her guiding principles tend to be basic: Be yourself; complex projects require diverse talents; success is about the work; don’t underestimate others (and expect the same in return).

As one of the earliest members to join Percapita in early 2020, Maripat has been instrumental in shaping the company’s direction, culture, and work, alongside her role as Chief Legal Officer overseeing legal and compliance matters.

Before Percapita, Maripat was a partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, where her legal practice focused on mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions for a wide array of financial services firms. In addition to her leadership in financial services M&A, Maripat also built a leading national practice advising on credit card business sales and joint-marketing transactions, and co-chaired the law firm’s Women’s Initiative for many years.

“I’m driving Percapita to apply some of the basic principles of inclusion and respect in all of our relationships – and encouraging the same in return – which ultimately will enhance both the humanity and success of Percapita and those we serve.”

Melissa’s enthusiasm for the payment system intricacies of the financial services industry is only matched by her fundamental belief that the world, while wonderful, can always be better. Before she joined Percapita, Melissa was a Senior Manager in Accenture’s Banking & Payments practice, where she balanced advising banks, processors, and payments networks with managing the at-home demands of being mom to two growing boys – and everything that entails!

“As a mom, sometimes every little bit of support helps. For me, it’s essential and exciting to find ways to help people reduce their financial stress and relieve even small burdens. Raising children really does take a village, and so can managing finances—none of us should have to figure it all out alone.”

Paul Kanevsky

Ever since he was a kid, Paul has been fascinated by astronomy. Gazing up at the stars, seeing the vastness of the universe and trying to fathom its mysteries led him to mathematics, science and technology. All of that also grounds him back to Earth and helps him solve its many equally captivating challenges.

That deep connection fuels Paul’s passion of figuring out how to make technology work for everyone, especially underserved communities — and brought him to Percapita. He is no stranger to startups, having founded his first in college, but Paul has also spent many years leading innovation teams at some of the largest financial institutions, including Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, and UBS. Paul has authored a number of technology patents that helped transform financial industry.

Whether it’s the stars, life on Earth, startups or establishment players, Paul always brings his unique perspective to the large question of how to make technology easier to use and accessible to all communities, thereby helping to improve lives and to empower more people in pursuit of their own goals.

“I’m a big believer that education through technology is the best way to improve and elevate standards of living and to create a fairer and more equitable society and economy. My colleagues and I are working tirelessly to make sure that Percapita’s technology delivers on that promise.”
